چکیده

The development of surface coatings demands a better understanding surface/interface chemistry to design high-performance coating materials. We have studied the polymerization processes mussel-inspired adhesive protein, Dopamine. Molecular level insight on mechanism thin film formation during has been probed using sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy. investigations polydopamine films with variation in time dopamine at air-polymer interface reveal molecular footprints and dopamine. intermediates were dependent time, which can be used for immobilization strategies. Additionally, morphological measurements show nanoparticles surfaces even when vertical orientation sample and/ or stirring solution followed prevent macro/nanostructures. acquired applied designing deterministic interfaces coating, coupling, sensing applications.

Molecular Level Studies of Polymer Behaviors at the Water Interface Using Sum Frequency Generation Vibrational Spectroscopy

Industrial plastics, biomedical polymers and numerous other polymeric systems are contacted with water for everyday functions and after disposal. Probing the interfacial molecular interactions between widely used polymers and water yields valuable information that can be extrapolated to macroscopic polymer/water interfacial behaviors so scientists can better understand polymer bio-compatibility...

Vibrational spectroscopy for probing molecular-level interactions in organic films mimicking biointerfaces.

Investigation into nanostructured organic films has served many purposes, including the design of functionalized surfaces that may be applied in biomedical devices and tissue engineering and for studying physiological processes depending on the interaction with cell membranes. Of particular relevance are Langmuir monolayers, Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) and layer-by-layer (LbL) films used to simulate...

Mini Review Understanding surfaces and buried interfaces of polymer materials at the molecular level using sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy

This paper reviews recent progress in the studies on polymer surfaces/interfaces using sum frequency generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy. SFG theory, technique, and some experimental details have been presented. The review is focused on the SFG studies on buried interfaces involving polymer materials, such as polymer–water interfaces and polymer–polymer interfaces. Molecular interactions ...

Single molecule fluorescence microscopy investigations on heterogeneity of translational diffusion in thin polymer films.

Translational diffusion of single perylene diimide molecules in 25 nm thin polymer films was investigated by single molecule widefield fluorescence microscopy. Spatial heterogeneities in single molecule motion were detected and analyzed by a new, quantitative method which draws a comparison of log-Gaussian fits of experimentally determined diffusion coefficient-distributions and diffusion coeff...

Glass transition and molecular mobility in polymer thin films.

Extensive studies on polymer thin films to date have revealed their interesting but unusual properties such as film thickness dependence of glass transition temperature Tg and thermal expansivity. Recent studies have shown that the lower Tg is not always related to the higher mobility in polymer thin films, which contradicts our current understanding of the glass transition process. In this wor...
